The textures, angles and earthy colours of the ruined buildings at Base 31 inspired this series of photographs which were shot in early 2023 when most of the barracks had not yet been restored. Since these were taken, most of the roofs have been replaced, many of the buildings are now completed and occupied, and the barracks in the worst condition have been torn down. I feel fortunate that I was able to capture these beautiful derelict buildings while they were still in their ruined glory.
