   dianne twombly /  images.

For a long time I have pursued themes of decline and decay, loss and remembrance, and cycles of life and death in both natural and constructed environments.

My favourite subjects include flowers and cars—the former I grow in my garden and the latter I chase down the street if I notice a particularly interesting pattern of rust or deterioration. I tend to shoot dark and utilize high contrast to enhance the rich colours of my subjects. While many of the images may appear gloomy to those who love their pictures bright and cheerful, I find peace in the shadows and comfort in the depth of colour I capture in that fleeting moment of breath between the visual spark and the shutter click.

I am also a huge fan of boarded up buildings and sites of demolition which I seek out on urban photographic excursions and capture for "reimagining". I digitally deconstruct these urban relics and reconstruct them in more expansive, dreamlike spaces to allow the viewer greater room for contemplation and imagination.

I currently live in Hamilton with my husband and two weird cats.
